Thriving at a Snail’s Pace

A cartoon snail

My cartoon snail demonstrating emotional portability

I’m in a strange, beautiful stage of life: everything feels hard, and I’ve never felt more aligned with who I actually am. I’m building my business at a snail’s pace — my pace — and for the first time, I’m not shaming myself for moving slowly. Turns out slow is honest. Slow is sustainable. Slow is mine. People keep asking me how is it going? From the outside sometimes it might look like it’s barely going… from the inside it’s a landslide everyday.

I’m learning big lessons in real time. I’m making mistakes, getting embarrassed, apologizing, and — here’s the miracle — not spiraling into shame afterward. That part is new and huge.

For years I thought I had to hustle harder, push faster, prove more. It was never enough, because it can’t be enough.

Lately I’ve been saying sorry a lot. Not the fake “sorry” to just “move on”, but the real kind — the kind where someone tells you you hurt them, and you can actually see it. The kind where you don’t collapse into “I’m bad,” but you stay present enough to repair. It’s uncomfortable, it’s humbling, and it’s amazing.

The wild part is: the more aware I become, the more faults I see. And somehow, that’s freeing. You can’t move forward until you accept that awareness isn’t a punishment — it’s a opening!

And through all of this, I’m enjoying my life. Every gosh‑darn moment. Even the embarrassing ones. Especially the embarrassing ones. They’re proof that I’m awake, growing, and not shutting down anymore.

This is the stage I’m in: slow growth, real apologies, zero shame spirals, and a surprising amount of joy. This is what I came for.
