The Business of We

I used to think growth meant doing more. Now I know it means choosing differently.

This weekend, I’m doing something the old me never would’ve done: I’m taking time off. The next workshop will be Sunday, August 16th. My daughter is visiting with her boyfriend, and instead of squeezing my life around my work, I’m letting my life lead.

This shift didn’t happen overnight. My business has been expanding quickly — beautifully, wildly — and I’ve realized that speed isn’t the same as sustainability. So I’m slowing down where I can.

I’m hiring support. I’m delegating tasks I once believed only I could do. I’m saying yes to ideas that stretch me, surprise me, and sometimes challenge my instincts. Because expansion without collaboration is just exhaustion with better branding.

I want a business that breathes with other people’s expertise. One that lets me step back, listen, and trust.

I once heard that Mr. Rogers always used the word “we” when talking about his show. “We are doing this.” “We are learning that.” It wasn’t a performance — it was a philosophy.

And I realized: I’m in the business of we. That’s the only business I want to build.

Thanks for being part of this “we.”
