When One Question Opens a New Door

Announcing Tuesdays on Zoom for Women

Every so often, something small happens that rearranges the furniture inside your mind. A moment that makes you pause and realize something new is trying to come through. This week, that moment arrived during a lecture I gave called The Game of Acting in Hollywood: How It’s Changed Over the Last 30 Years.

I was speaking to a group of seniors in Florida, and at the end, as I always do, I opened the floor for questions. A young woman who was helping run the event raised her hand and said, “I have a question. How would someone like me get involved in acting?”

Her question stopped me for a moment.

Because underneath it was something bigger:

a desire to create, to be seen, to begin, to belong — and to find a place where those things are possible.

I realized that women everywhere are asking some version of that same question.

Not just about acting, but about creativity, courage, and where to start.

And that’s why I’m launching Mary’s Creative Check‑In, a weekly Zoom gathering for women and those who identify as women who want support, accountability, and momentum in their creative lives.

Meeting on Zoom means I can connect with women anywhere — women who might not have access to creative communities, mentorship, or a place to ask the questions that matter. I want to help foster and mentor anyone I might be of service to, whether she’s just beginning or beginning again.

This space is for women who want to feel seen, supported, and connected.

A place to share wins, set goals, talk through blocks, ask questions, and build community.

A place to remember that creativity isn’t a solitary act — it’s a shared one.
